Favourite moments: That incredible moment when our two-year-old son experienced a herd of elephants drinking water a few meters from us. The striking beauty of the African bush in front of us and the gentle giants being free in their natural habitat. Special memories that will last forever and hard to beat anywhere else in the world. Africa rooted deep in our blood.
When the rangers took us back to the entrance – what came to mind was the following:
Thanda is not only a place you visit and have a great experience – it is more than that, Thanda Safari becomes part of you.

Accommodation: We stayed in the bush suite lodge, one of Thanda’s flagship properties. This bush suite lodge is a 220 square architectural masterpiece which is a piece of heaven in the middle of the African bush. Our favourite part was that it is unfenced, knowing the big five roams freely around us as well as the amazing outdoor shower – oh my that was so amazing!
Each lodge has a spacious lounge, majestic bedroom, double-sided fireplace with the most beautiful bathroom incorporating nature views. Also included are both indoor and outdoor showers. Walking outside you will find a plunge pool that the elephants often visit to drink water. Walking further along the expansive deck you will reach the incredible “sala” hut also known as a look out point. Here you will find a king size lounger where you can view the wildlife, have a sundowner, and just admire the beauty that the African bushveld has to offer.
Food: The food was outstanding, breakfast, lunch and dinner all-inclusive in your stay. You can also request a private boma dinner. We went for this option on our last night, and we loved every moment of it.

Game drives:
We went on a private game drive early in the morning at 06:00 and late afternoon as well. Nothing more spectacular experiencing the sun rise over the African bush, the fresh smell of trees, veld, and the African soil that makes your senses come alive. The respect the rangers have for the animals are noteworthy. Thanks to the rangers expert tracking skills, we managed to see four of the big five animals, the leopard being the one elusive animal out of the five.
We were treated by the rangers on the first evening taking us up to highest point in Thanda, overlooking 14 thousand hectares. We enjoyed a sundowner drink with the rangers, watching the sun set over yet another day at Thanda.
Important to mention that Thanda is kid friendly. We had such special times with our two-year-old son Israel. For him to experience the wildlife, freedom and special memories with us, will be treasured forever. Having travelled to some of the most sought-after destinations in the world, Thanda safari was undoubtedly one of our favourites on our list and an unrivalled experience.
